Copy text from a scan or photo

A scanned certificate or a photo of a letter is a picture of words, so nothing in it can be copied, searched or edited. This reads the words back out (OCR), in English, Hindi and eleven other Indian languages. Copy the text, save it as Word, or get the same PDF back with its text made searchable.

It all happens on your own device; the document is not uploaded. Machine reading makes mistakes, especially with handwriting, faint stamps and unusual fonts, so read the result through before you rely on it, and check numbers and names against the original.

A straight, well-lit photo reads far better than a slanted one.

The link must be shared with “anyone with the link”. Your browser downloads the file straight from that service; it does not pass through this site.

2. Which languages is it in?

Choose up to 3. Choosing only the languages actually on the page reads faster and more accurately.

The first time, your browser downloads the reader and these languages from this site (about 5.5 MB) and keeps them for next time. Your document is not uploaded.
