Add a password to a PDF

Before an ID, a certificate or a statement goes by email or chat, lock it with a password and send the password separately, by a call or a different app. The file is encrypted with AES-256 on your own device.

1. Choose a PDF

Drop a file here, paste it, or click to choose

Nothing is uploaded. The file stays on your device.

Open from Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive or a link

The link must be shared with “anyone with the link”. Your browser downloads the file straight from that service; it does not pass through this site.

2. Choose a password

Once it is open, allow…

Most PDF apps respect these, but they are a request, not a lock: the password is the real protection.

If this password is forgotten, the PDF cannot be opened again, by you or by us. Keep the original, or note the password somewhere safe.
