Resize a photo to 50 KB

Fifty kilobytes is the most common photo limit on Indian exam and government forms, and it is a comfortable one: at the dimensions those forms ask for, a normal photograph fits inside it with quality to spare.

The usual reason a photo fails this limit is not the limit at all — it is that a phone photograph is several thousand pixels wide and several megabytes in size. Setting the dimensions the form asks for typically brings the file under 50 KB on its own.

Set both below. The photo is resized on your own device, and neither the original nor the result is uploaded anywhere.

Set below already, and editable. The numbers on the form you are filling in are the ones that count — application rules change, and this page is not the authority.

Questions

What dimensions go with a 50 KB limit?
It depends on the form, and forms differ. 200 × 230 pixels is common, but the requirement on the form you are filling in is the one that counts — change the boxes below to match it.
Can I use a photo taken on my phone?
Yes. Photograph yourself against a plain light wall in even daylight, then set the dimensions and the size limit here. The tool crops to fill the frame by default, so the middle of the picture is what survives.
